Important Worship Service Changes:
CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC PRECAUTION
Like many of you, I have been closely monitoring official notifications regarding Covid-19 or Coronavirus. Information and advisories have been coming very swiftly, and limiting social interactions in crowds has been strongly advised. This is a time for prayer, preparation, and informed action.
After much prayerful deliberation, a decision has been made for GBUMC to suspend our regular Sunday service schedule as a precautionary measure. Worship is an essential part of our life together. An online service will be streamed through our website at 10:30 AM, https://www.gbumc.org/live. To be clear, the 8 AM service and W@W at Flounder's Beach Church have been canceled. The Livestream service will be broadcast from the sanctuary at 10:30 AM. It is advised that Sunday school classes be canceled as well.
Given that this coming week is Spring Break, a decision was also made to suspend ALL non-essential activities. Wednesday Night Supper will not take place. Children’s Place and children’s ministries will also be closed until March 27th, following the Santa Rosa County School System's emergency guidance issued this afternoon. The youth ministry will meet for activities in consultation with parents and volunteers.
We pray for all who are impacted by this pandemic. Especially, we pray for those stricken by the virus, those who tend to them medically, those who are recovering, and for those who lose loved ones. May God surround us with grace and strength for the challenges ahead.
During this time, the staff will continue to work, though it may be remotely. We will offer opportunities for worship and devotion through social media, so watch for emails and posts that will give support and encouragement in these days. We will actively work to stay in contact with church members, providing pastoral care as needed. We encourage you to make us aware of any needs that may arise as we stand ready to respond. Clergy and the congregational care team will follow the direction of medical facilities as it relates to making in-person visits. We will continue to minister to those who are in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or homebound. Your pastors can be reached as follows: Dan Morris, 334-797-3399, firstname.lastname@example.org; Shawn York, 850-723-5836, email@example.com; and Pam Avery, 850-932-3594, firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are grateful for your generous and faithful financial support of our church. Online giving can be made at https://www.gbumc.org/giving or by mail to 75 Fairpoint Avenue, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561.
These decisions have not been made lightly. The overriding factor is for the health and safety of our congregation and our community. Decisions about worship and ministry schedules will be made week-by-week in consultation with health officials.
We are a people of faith and not fear. Whatever the days ahead may bring, we remember the words of Paul in Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
We will have the most up-to-date information on our website at https://www.gbumc.org.
