Biblical Characteristics of a Leader according to I Timothy 3:
- A person of sound reputation
- Faithful in his/her relationships
- Not "hot headed"
- Hospitable and affirming
- Informed and reasonable
- Doesn't get drunk or abuse substances/people/money
- Gentle
- Not overly sensitive
- Not "money hungry"
- Attentive to their family
- Spiritual growth beyond a "Newborn Christian"
- Has respect of team members and provides respect for others
Can anyone feel absolutely secure in having followed each of these fully? Certainly not. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. But, we are called to make Christ the center of our lives and then live our those qualitites in order to be faithful witnesses for Him and a servant to each other and to those in need.
And our Membership Covenant:
- Faithful and regular attendance at a Gulf Breeze UMC worship community along with faithful, reasonable representation and attendance at GBUMC events.
- Ongoing work in some form of deepening spititual formation process that seeks for the person to walk closer with the Lord.
- Serve in one extended ministry area either by working within the body of Christ, assist with the needs of those who are under-resourced, or volunteering to work in global missions.
- Regular and faithful tither.
