HAITI DISASTER RELIEF
As many of you know, an earthquake has seriously impacted and devastated the already impoverished nation of Haiti. The United Methodist Committee on Relief has been working in Haiti for generations and now is working feverishly to raise resources to meet this latest crisis.
It is the Gospel imperative that every Christian should be concerned about what has happened in Haiti. As we learned this week, every Christian is tied to their brothers and sisters because none of us get it completely right and all of us are susceptible to the imperfections of this world.
In that regard, I encourage you to make a donation to the Haiti Relief Fund that has been established at Gulf Breeze UMC and that will go to benefit the work of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).
UMCOR has an impeccable reputation and is known for being one of the first relief agencies on site in times of disaster and upheaval. Your money will be well spent and is much needed.
To date we have raised over $11,000.
Over the next days, we need your help to meet the needs of our brothers and sisters in Haiti. Remember, we, too, have been the beneficiaries of UMCOR’s work through Hurricane Ivan. And, the people of Haiti, though far away and different than many of us, are still mothers and fathers, grandparents, aunts and uncles who love their children and who have no where to turn.

Now thru January 29, we are also collecting Health Kits. If you would like to assemble a Health Kit, please deliver it to the Fairpoint Campus by the 29th.
As Mother Teresa said, “We are only as faithful in Christ as the amount of our faith we are willing to share and give away.” How true.
