Worship Service Greeters & Welcome Center

Greeters
Greet worshippers with a warm welcome and share God’s love with every smile and hello. Conversations are short, but the potential to make a lasting impression is immeasurable.

Front Desk Greeter
Assist worship attendees by providing necessary information and assistance at the Welcome Desk before and after worship service.

Welcome Center Team
Greet and welcome first time visitors on Sunday mornings in the Courtyard. Distribute first time guest gift and provide information about the campus, locations of classrooms, children’s programs, etc.

First Steps Greeter
Greet guests at First Steps (new prospective member gathering) by reaching out in a manner that makes them feel warmly welcomed.

First Steps Refreshment Team
Help serve a light meal to the guests who attend First Steps events.

New Member Encourager Team
Follow up with new members guiding them in ways to get connected into the GBUMC church family.


Worship Service Ushers & Team

Ushers
Distribute bulletins, pass registration pads, assist in collecting offering, seat late arrivals, and prepare the worship area for the next service.

Communion Assistants
Help the pastor distribute communion elements.

Worship Center Host/Hostess
Assist pastors/staff by relaying information about those around you in worship with prayer needs or extended absences.


Sunday Morning Refreshments Team

Refreshments Preparation
Help prepare and set-up coffee, beverages and food for those attending worship services on Sunday mornings and holidays.

Provide Refreshments
Bring pastries, doughnuts, brownies, cookies, breakfast items, etc. for W@W

Coffee Preparation
Pick up the coffee at the Fairpoint campus and bring it out to W@W and/or take the empty coffee containers back and drop them off at the Fairpoint campus.

Refreshment Coordinator
Contact food volunteers to ensure adequate refreshments for Sunday mornings and help set up refreshment table at W@W.


Parking Attendants


It all starts in the parking lot and it isn’t just about providing parking assistance, giving directions and facilitating traffic flow, but about making people feel welcomed.


Large Event & Special Event Team

Special Events Volunteer Coordinator
Organize and follow-up with volunteers for special campus or church-wide events.

Large Events Team
Plan and assist with the organization, refreshment preparation, set-up and clean-up for large campus or church-wide events.

Ushers
Welcome guests at special events or funerals, providing whatever assistance is needed: seating guests, distributing bulletins, etc.

Greeters
Greet those attending special events with a warm smile, providing information and assistance as needed.


Wednesday Night Supper Team

Assist with the preparation, cooking and clean-up at the Wednesday Night


Children

Greeter

Greet and welcome families/guests on Sunday mornings in the children’s department. Provide assistance with check-in. Introduce new children to their classrooms and their teacher.


Sunday Morning Team

Leader/Assistant Leader
Lead, help or substitute for Sunday School or Large Group Worship.

Helping Hands
Assist the teacher while working one on one with a special needs child.


Large Events & Special Events Team

Large Events
Assist in planning, decorating/preparing, or serving during large events throughout the year.

Drama Team
Lead or assist in skits or plays for special events.

Event Chaperone
Attend special trips, events and mission projects as an adult leader and supporter. May include leading a group, driving or being in charge of a small group of students.

Transportation
Use church vehicles to provide transportation for students attending various events/mission projects. CDL license is required.

Decorations Team
Brainstorm ideas and help to create backdrops, props and decorations for special events.


Production Team

Audio/Visual Tech
Run DVDs, music, power-point, microphones and lights for children’s worship on Sunday morning and for large events.


Administrative Support

Assist with data entry and/or help prepare materials for Sunday mornings


Students

Hospitality Food Team
Coordinate or prepare and deliver snacks/meals for student groups Sunday mornings and/or Sunday evenings. Help serve during large events on campus.

Small Group Leader/Teacher
Facilitate weekly small groups on Sunday mornings; monthly outings on Sunday nights; quarterly small group outings. Curriculum and training is provided.

Administrative Support Team
Provide administrative task support: copying, filing, parent/volunteer contact, creating documents.

After-School Program Team
Help lead games, make decorations, lead short Bible teachings, lead a life-skills class, or assist with special events.

Prayer Team
Pray for students throughout the year.

All Purpose Team
Assist with hospitality, set-up or cleanup, registration, serving food, etc. during large events.

Transportation Team
Using church vehicles, provide transportation for students attending various events/mission projects. CDL license is required.

Life Groups Volunteer

Appreciation Luncheon
Help with set up, decorations, serving and clean up.

Participate in a Life Group
This is an opportunity to connect and build relationships with others while growing in your spiritual walk with the Lord.

Host a Life Group
Provide a welcoming environment in your home, at church or another location for a Life Group to meet. It is not necessary that you be a Life Group Leader.

Life Group Mission Day Coordinators
Assist Discipleship Staff in planning and overseeing a Saturday event whereby all our Life Groups will be sent out to serve at various locations in our community. Will also work in conjunction with our Missions Committee.

Life Group Registration Team
Assist congregation in signing up for Life Groups. Provide computer and logistic support.

Life Group Trainings Hospitality
Support Life Group Training Team with set up, food and hospitality.


Sunday Mornings

Rainbow Ministry Driver
Pick up 5-8 developmentally or physically challenged adults in a church vehicle and take them to and from Sunday morning classes and worship.

Appreciation Luncheon
Help with set up, decorations, serving and clean-up for Sunday School leaders.

Teacher/Facilitator
Plan Sunday School lessons and lead discussion of material with class members.


X9:16 Bible Study

Registration Team
Assist attendees in registering for the Bible Study.

Sound/Media Team
Set up and operate audio/visual equipment to support presentation.

Hospitality Team
Arrange for or serve as greeters, set up food and beverages and clean-up.

Prayer Team
The prayer team is in charge of praying throughout the week for the needs of God's people and for a move of the Holy Spirit. We will be meeting every Tuesday after the Bible study in the prayer room to cover all the spoken and unspoken prayers that he has laid on the hearts of his daughters.

Greeter Team
Greeters welcome everyone with a smile when they arrive. Greeters will be located in different areas so that everyone feels welcome.


General Needs

Teach Short Term Courses
Individuals interested in teaching short term classes.

Public Relations Team
Help with preparation and distribution of flyers, posters, brochures, etc.

Host Homes for Leadership Retreats
Individuals interested in offering their homes for a day or week-end leadership retreat.

The Book Place Book Store
Organize, restock and assist customers with purchases or orders for merchandise on Sunday or Wednesday mornings.


Women’s Ministry

Large Event Team
Help plan, organize and serve at women’s large events. 6-8 hours per event.

United Methodist Women
Join GBUMC’s United Methodist Women in fellowship or serve as an officer or the chairperson of a Circle.

Retreat Team
Help plan, organize and serve at retreats for women on or off campus.


Senior Adult Ministry

Sharing and Caring Team
Assist with food preparation, set-up, serving, clean-up, photographer, cashier or greeter for monthly senior luncheon. 1-2 hours per month.

Methodist Meals Delivery Team
Deliver noon-time meals to the homebound and elderly. 1 hour per week.

Transportation Team
Drivers to provide transportation to take senior adults shopping, to church or Bible study, to medical or dental appointment or to run errands. Time varies.

Senior Adults Special Events Team
Assist by greeting, serving, decorating, or making phone calls for special events for seniors. Time varies.

Senior Lunch Bunch Driver
Drive senior adults to local restaurants for food and fellowship. Once a month.

Event Planner
Plan and assist with organization of special events for senior adults.


Worship

Fairpoint Campus

Audio/Visual Team
Assist with one or more acts of service during the year; these opportunities will be varied & utilize various skills and talents.

Children’s Choir Assistance Team
Assist during children’s choir program by helping the children participate and learn music in a loving and caring environment. Monday or Wednesday for 2 hours.

Adult Hand Bells
Participate as a hand bell ringer. Experience with hand bells and ability to read music is necessary. Monday evenings for 1.5 hours.

Traditional Choir Member
Participate in this traditional choir that sings at the 8:00 or 11:00 am service on Sunday morning. Rehearsal Wednesday evening 1 hour.

Silvertones Choir Member
Participate in senior adult choir that sings at 8:00 am service on Sunday once a month with Heritage Choir. Rehearsal Tuesday afternoon for 1 hour.

Instrumentalist/Vocalist
Participate in worship as a volunteer member of the Sunday morning worship team. Once a month.

Media Technician
Set up stage and operate power point, sound, video and lighting for worship services and special events.


Worship at the Water

Instrumentalist
Participate in worship playing an instrument as a volunteer member of the Sunday morning worship team.

Vocalist
Participate in worship singing.

Communion/Baptism Team
Communion: Assist the pastor in distributing communion elements.
Baptism: Bring towels, t-shirts and certificates to the sound. If it is a spontaneous Baptism then record information so that a certificate can be made.

Technical Support/Audio/Video
Assist in set up of music/sound equipment and/or operate sound equipment, run video cameras.


Creative Team

Photographer
Take photographs with own professional camera of special events and worship services at the various campuses as well as off-site. Willing to allow GBUMC the free and unlimited use of your creative work.

Videographer
Record and edit video of special events and worship services at the various campuses as well as off-site. Willing to allow GBUMC the free and unlimited use of your creative work.

Graphic Design
Create various graphics for message series, events and ministry areas. Willing to allow GBUMC the free and unlimited use of your creative work.

Community Events
Maintain a Gulf Breeze/ Pensacola Navarre calendar of area events at which GBUMC should be represented as well as any seasonal events that could be in conflict with GBUMC events.

Web & Social Media
Monitor GBUMC web-site for information and update to social media.


Caring Ministries

Memorial Reception Committee
Volunteers are part of a rotation to set up and serve a light reception following a memorial service.

Comfort/Crisis Meals Team
Provide meals for families who have experienced the loss of a loved one or have other special needs.

Home/Nursing Home Visits
Visits to encourage, comfort and offer moral and spiritual support. Time varies with each case.

Card Ministry Team
Send greeting cards to those people who are suffering from illness or the loss of a loved one.

Hospital After Care
Call those recently released from the hospital to continue to offer support and encouragement for recovery.

Flower Arranging/Delivery Team
Arrange and /or deliver small flower arrangements to those in need of some TLC.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
Use your knitting or crochet skills to make prayer shawls for those in need of comfort.


Central Operations

If you like to work behind the scenes then operations is the place for you. Most opportunities are during the week.


Administrative Assistance Team
Assist with data entry and occasional mail outs.

Buildings Maintenance Team
Help with ongoing building repairs and projects using carpentry, electrical, plumbing or general skills.

Grounds Maintenance Team
Assist with grounds maintenance.

Front/Desk Receptionist Team
Serve as a substitute receptionist at the front desk. Relief is needed in the event of illness, vacation, staff meetings, lunch, etc.
